What even is a zine?

A zine (pronounced Zeen) is a self published mini maga’zine’. They were originally made and became popular during the black renaissance in the 1920s to help spread information about the movement as zines could be cheaply produced and are small in size, this also gave black/LGBTQIA+ artist/writers a space where they could share their work and thoughts as they typically weren’t allowed to have featured pieces in magazines/newspapers.

Sence then, they have become a staple for anyone who wants to be creative and share what’s on their mind but may not have the funds to create an entire magazine or be professionally published!
